Über dieses Buch

This book studies the marine multiple formations of petroleum geology in Central Sichuan Basin. It provides thorough, systematic, and empirical guideline on the topic. It makes full use of geological, drilling, logging, and seismic data, according to the principle of point-line-surface combination, to reconstruct the fine lithofacies paleogeography of Sinian-Triassic, reveals genesis and distribution characteristics of reservoir, evaluates the key exploration fields and favorable zones, and provides detailed basic geological data for oil and gas exploration. This book is used as reference for both professionals and students engaged in geology research.

Frontmatter
Chapter 1. Outline of Regional Geological Setting
Abstract
Geographically, the central Sichuan Basin is located within the inner Upper Yangtz craton. It was developed with multi-stage structural evolutions, the transformation of multi-period tectonic movement, multi-type basin superposition, multi-cycle sedimentary filling, and multi-stage hydrocarbon accumulation from Sinian to Middle Triassic.

Chapter 2. Structural Characteristics and Evolution
Abstract
The structural characteristics, development characteristics and combination styles of fault in the study area are determined by the analysis of structural evolution history based on the geological research results of the study area and adjacent areas. The faults in the study area are identified and combined according to the fault development styles. Based on this, the erosion strata and ancient structure in critical periods during the Caledonian movement, Kunming movement, Dongwu movement, Indosinian movement and Himalayan movement are restored, and their structural evolution characteristics are clarified, according to the different restoration methods based on the characteristics of each tectonic movement and the differences of the data.

Chapter 3. Lithofacies Paleogeography and Sedimentary Evolution
Abstract
In the research of carbonate lithofacies paleogeography, the method with single-factor analysis and multi-factor graphs is used. During the study, well data and outcrop data are widely used, while seismic data are rarely applied due to the poor precision. In this research, the accuracy of lithofacies paleogeography map is greatly improved by the comprehensive application of geological and seismic data with large seismic data.

Chapter 4. Reservoir Characteristics and Distribution Prediction
Abstract
This chapter uses a large number of core photos, microscopic photos, field photos and a large number of well data to analyze the genetic types and characteristics of different strata reservoirs, including petrological characteristics, reservoir space types and genetic types. On this basis, according to the reservoir rock physical characteristics of different strata, using different methods, integrated use of paleogeomorphology, sedimentary facies, seismic facies and seismic inversion techniques to predict the distribution characteristics of favorable reservoirs.

Chapter 5. Evaluation of Natural Gas Accumulation Conditions
Abstract
The regional oil and gas accumulation processes in Central Sichuan are very complex due to multiple sets of source rocks, multiple sets of plays and multiple accumulation periods. This research focused on the structural evolution and reconstructed the reservoir evolution with regional accumulation characteristics and models through single-well simulation, accumulation element analysis, hydrocarbon generation and evolution characteristics of source rocks, hydrocarbon phase behavior of reservoirs and trap analysis.

Chapter 6. Recent Key Exploration Fields and Zones
Abstract
For the marine carbonate strata in Central Sichuan, the evaluation of key exploration fields and zones is carried out around the mound-beach bodies of Sinian Dengying Formation, granular beaches of Cambrian Longwangmiao-Xixiangchi Formation, granular beaches of Permian Qixia-Maokou Formation, reef beaches of Permian Changxing Formation and Leikoupo Formation of Triassic, and the exploration targets are put forward. In general, Dengying Formation is developed with a low exploration degree, enormous total resources, and broad exploration prospects. The source conditions are well developed for hydrocarbon supply in Qixia-Maokou Formation, not only from the self-developed source rocks, but also from the other source rocks as well. As a result, the Qixia-Maokou Formation is developed with good accumulation conditions, low exploration degree and large exploration potential.
